The House Border and Maritime Security subcommittee discussed the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) report Critical CBP Requirements to Improve Border Security at a hearing March 15.
“This document detailed over $33 billion in major border security investments across four main categories: physical barriers, technology, access, and additional staffing,” the committee noted in the hearing’s announcement. “This hearing will examine CBP’s proposal and the border security results an expenditure of that magnitude would potentially deliver for the American people.”
Witnesses to the hearing include: Ronald D. Vitiello, acting deputy commissioner, CBP; Rebecca Gambler, director, Homeland Security and Justice, U.S. Government Accountability Office; Brandon Judd, national president, National Border Patrol Council; and Anthony M. Reardon, national president, National Treasury Employees Union.
