With Iran’s physical presence expanding through Iraq and Syria, and a lack of military forces in place to stop it, Hudson Institute will examine the realities of Iran’s objectives at a forum April 26.

“With no military forces broadly obstructing Iran’s strategic movement in the region, the country’s influence continues to grow unchecked and could prove further destabilizing,” stated an announcement of the forum from Hudson Institute. “With upcoming parliamentary elections in Lebanon, Hezbollah is poised to make greater gains, while in the Iraqi Parliamentary elections, the [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps]-supported Fattah party will be instrumental in deciding the next Prime Minister and who controls the security and infrastructure ministries.”

Bringing together experts on the region from Washington, D.C. and around the globe, the panel discussion will address Iran’s aspirations and growing influence in the region and look at capabilities in the region to slow down Iran’s growing political and physical influence. Panelists will include Jennifer Cafarella from the Institute for the Study of War; Michael Pregent, a Hudson Institute adjunct fellow; Ranj Alaaldin from the Brookings Institution; and Michale Knights from The Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

Watch the forum April 26 beginning at 12 p.m. EDT.
