The constant barrage of protesters attempting to get Trump administration officials to release immigrant children to their adult counterparts, if successful, will result in a number of children being trafficked by sex predators.
This is a given, and is unarguable. The only question is how many children the Left and the protesters are willing to sacrifice in order to win a political game and potentially cause the Trump administration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials embarrassment by having to alter their plans to protect these children.
There is no question that children will be seriously harmed if ICE has to forego the process of assuring children are released to their biological parents.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristjen Nielsen recently said that 10,000 of 12,000 unaccompanied children were brought across the border by someone other than their biological parents.
That “someone,” according to Secretary Kristjen, is likely a human trafficker.
Keep in mind that the ultimate objective of the trafficker is profit, and as we have seen by the number of individuals in recent years who’ve died at the hands of traffickers, nothing is more important to them than profit.
Thorn, a nonprofit organization that works to stop the spread of child sex trafficking and stand up to traffickers reported that more than 91 percent of female child sex trafficking victims participating in Los Angeles’ STAR court, a court for child sex trafficking, are African Americans or Latinos.
This same report pointed out the fact that instability and chaos created an opportunity for sex traffickers to reach out and bond with children and children’s families allowing for the recruitment into the child sex trafficking industry. Never before has such an opportunity presented itself, in relation to these recent incidents of smuggling children across the border.
Limited research into sex trafficking of children in the United States and abroad will attest to the veracity, determination, and organizational and technological acumen of child sex predator rings.
According to ICE, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has arrested more than 16,000 for crimes ranging from child pornography to sex trafficking through HSI’s Operation Predator initiative since 2003. In 2016, the number of arrested predators totaled more than 2,600.
Current opposition, led by some in Congress and being carried out by protesters, designed to interfere with the legitimate process carried out by ICE and Customs and Border Protection to assure these children are released only to authorized adults, is seriously undermining the efforts of border officials to keep these children safe. It will, without doubt, contribute to a huge wave of victimization.
Law enforcement officials—especially those charged with prevention of child trafficking—are adept at understanding the driving force and the determination of sex predators. They have to be in order to do their jobs. If this narrative seems inaccurate, ask them yourself. The current environment, promulgated by those on the Left, the protestors, and those willing to do anything to resist Trump efforts to protect these children, has thus far been successful in fomenting a child sex predator’s dream world.
Border officials, including ICE, are faced with the extremely difficult task of protecting these children from a life of torture and abuse. The job can be done, but it takes time. DNA tests coupled with investigative processes involving interviews of the older children can determine whether the adults who brought them across the border are legitimately concerned for their welfare, or are individuals who used subterfuges to pry them away from desperate parents in their home countries.
A simple process of separating a child from the adult who brought them across the border long enough for that child to feel safe in being candid about the circumstances surrounding their transport, and the individuals involved, almost always uncovers the truth. But again, this takes time. Their heroic efforts to protect these children should be applauded, not hampered by those intent on using the situation solely for political purposes.
If ICE is forced to release these children without proper controls and verification, you can be sure that a large number of them will become victims and will either be killed or emotionally scarred for life.
What is required now, for any caring adult, is to ask yourself how many you are willing to sacrifice on the never-Trump altar. You can embarrass Trump and ICE officials or cause Trump a political setback, but it’s going to require a few child victims. It’s a simple question: How many children are you willing to sacrifice for the cause?
